Which tier should you choose?
Choose Infrastructure Pro when its integrations, dashboards and 15-month metric retention fit the requirement. Evaluate Enterprise when machine learning-based alerts, Live Processes or Governance Console are required. Free includes up to five hosts and one-day metric retention, so retention is a practical boundary in this choice.
Use base APM for distributed traces and service-health metrics. Choose APM Pro when Data Streams Monitoring is needed; APM Enterprise adds Continuous Profiler. These are workload capability choices, and the listed rates for all three apply with Infrastructure Monitoring attached.

For an Infrastructure Pro and base APM estimate, count monitored infrastructure hosts and the subset running APM. A host is a monitored physical or virtual OS instance, including a Kubernetes node. This is a host-charge subtotal because logs, excess containers, custom metrics, RUM, Synthetics and other products use separate meters.

What moves the bill?
Host counts, selected products and billing terms determine the modeled host subtotal. Separately track custom-metric usage, ingested or scanned log GB, indexed log events, test runs and RUM session volumes.
Our take
Datadog’s published unit rates give buyers a starting point, but an Infrastructure-and-APM subtotal excludes other product meters. If logs, RUM, Synthetics, extra containers or custom-metric usage are in scope, measure those workloads and confirm applicable retention, overage and contract terms before using the subtotal as a budget.
